Ever time I try to lighten it..of course it goes red. Is it possible for a dark brunette to go lighter or would you even go lighter. I'm border line olive complexion.I'm a dark brunette and want to try a new hair color.?
It is best to use a professional when it comes to important chemical products such as perms and dyes. I can't tell you how many times I've heard ladies in my family and friends complain that their hair color didn't turn out just how they wanted it. I remember my mom was going for some kind of red color with a golden tint to it, but instead she ended up with a deep red color. Plus if you insist on doing the dye yourself, you Should always do a skin test and strand test before using dyes. Putting a dime-size amount of dye on a cotton ball and dabbing right behind the ear and waiting 24 hours will assure you that you wont have an allergic reaction to it. Cutting a strand of hair and soaking half of it in like 30 ml of dye will show you if you will really achieve the result you want. Hair should be deep conditioned before dyeing hair. Follow the manufacturer's instructions exactly. Using a plastic cap or heat may or may not help. The more volume of hydrogen peroxide, the lighter the color. A lot of coloring products use 20 volume hydrogen peroxide while others use 40 volume. Your hair obviously had a lot of pigment which does affect the amount of change. There are seven stages of lightening. Black hair will go from black to brown, to red (you), to red-gold (my mom), to gold, to yellow and finally to that real light yellow %26amp; nearly white color. Also, you should know that both skin tone and eye color determine what is the best selection of hair color for you. Since I already know your skin color, I can eliminate some color choices now (I know a thing or two about this subject). With olive complexion and an eye color between light blue and black your hair color choices that you want to go for are: Burgandy highlights, plum, Ash, platinum blond, dark brown, black, Slate, Salt and pepper, pure White.I'm a dark brunette and want to try a new hair color.?
gO TO A PRO. ONLY THEY CAN MIX THE COLOR SO YOUR HAIR WILL BE LIGHT. BLACK HAIRED PEOPLE CAN GO PLATINUM IF THEY WANT. A PRO WILL BE ABLE TO MATCH THE CHEMICALS IN YOUR HAIR WITH THE PEROXIDE USED TO MAKE HAIR LIGHTER. IT CANT BE DONE BY YOU
it'd look good with dark blonde or light brown... perhaps black is your skin isn't too light. black gives off a eccentric and classical look...
-go to professional to get it done
-do NOT keep dying it to lighten it up!
Any time you want to go more than 3 shades lighter than your natural shade, you HAVE TO go to a professional.
Walmart, Sally's, aren't allowed, by law, to sell anything higher than a level 3 bleach. You need a professional to lighten your hair in different phases.
You can go any color ya want, including platinum blonde.
Maybe just try some highlights to start?

Go to a wig salon and try on some of them. Then go to a professional to get your hair the color you've chosen. It's hard for very dark hair to be lightened to a particular shade. That's why it's best to use a professional colorist.
Do not experiment with colours at home.
I would recommend a chestnut colour for you done at a hairdressing salon. It worked really nice for me before. I am a dark brunette originally.
i have the same problem..... i went lighter and it worked u just have to use the rite thing :)
